Day 6 Rivne-Kyiv
We spent the morning at the Rivne Hub loading, unloading and preparing for our delivery of ovens and bread mixers to the East. The fellow who delivers the ovens from Romania, has a church in Chernivtsi with three ovens but no Mixer. The volunteers mix it all by hand, so we loaded up a commercial mixer for him, to deliver, to speed up the process. They feed the many refugees living in Chernivtsi and send bread to the front lines.
We visited Anya who was a Christian missionary in the Donetsk Region. Anya brought refugees out of Bakmut to a home in Rivne. She currently oversees everything and personally takes care of 46 refugees at the home. She bakes bread for the refugees at the home and provides 10 loaves of bread everyday to the warming tent in the center of Rivne. A mixer was delivered to this amazing young lady.
Late afternoon we visited a military hospital and took wounded soldiers our well wishes along with oranges and bottled juice. It was heartbreaking to see the damage to life and limb from an unprovoked war. We visited Daniel, 22 years old, who immediately signed up to serve his country. Both of Daniels legs were damaged by shrapnel. His right leg was immediately amputated in a field hospital. His left leg is losing a fight with infection and will need to be amputated this week. This is just one of thousands of soldiers and civilians who will have to live a future without all of their arms and legs. I pray for justice to be served for each of them! On a positive note, many of the soldiers were in good spirits and look forward to a victory for Ukraine!
Wednesday night. with ovens, mixers, Clif Bars, a mobile kitchen and military supplies we headed East, arriving Brovary (just east of Kyiv) at 1am. Sleep is optional on these trips!
