It was a 5:00am start. Wanted to head to the Border early to try avoiding a long line. Stopped and picked up the rest of the team (Lyubomir, Vlad and Arcady) at Lyubomir’s parents house.
Only took us an hour and a half to get across the border. The line of Semi Trucks was several miles long and taking 12 days to get across the border. Sometimes we get frustrated waiting 45 minutes at Disneyland or 3 minutes at the grocery store….. how about 12 Days???
Arrived Krakow and went to Złote Serce restaurant for lunch. Wanted to introduce the team to Lance and Marcee Foster and Alen and Ania. Had a great lunch and a fun visit. Said goodbye to the team. I will fly out of Krakow in the morning. Arcady, Ruslan, Vlad and Lyubomir will fly out of Warsaw. Nazar will head back to Germany to spend time with his family until his next trip later this month. Even though some of us just met 10 days ago it felt like we have been friends all our lives. It was another Band of Brothers!
Had the opportunity to spend the rest of the day with the Fosters handing out flowers and chocolate bars to women (For world women’s day) at three of the refugee centers. It was sweet to see all the smiling faces. At each one they wanted to feed us and the last two they had prepared some singing and dancing performances. It was a wonderful afternoon. As I watched the performances, I couldn’t help to reflect back to what these women and children were going through a year ago. Even though you can feel their desires to return home, it was nice to share a moment of happiness with them. Well done Fosters and ReachHumanity!
